Norfolk Network History

Norfolk Network, was founded in 2003 to connect innovators and founders seeking business knowledge, skills, and valuable connections. It offered regular inspirational events in a supportive, open environment distinct from the transactional networking of the time.

A dynamic community emerged across various industries. In 2006, the network supported a university Young Entrepreneur society, leading to its 2012 national ACAS award for student engagement with SMEs. This award sparked UEA’s sponsorship of Norfolk Network.

In 2019, UEA awarded Lucy Marks, Managing Director of Norfolk Network with an Honorary Doctorate in Civil Law. This was in recognition for inspiring students, enhancing their employability through training, volunteering, and business introductions, and supporting UEA’s enterprise and entrepreneurship initiatives by linking the university community with businesses.

In 2023, Norfolk Network celebrated its 20th anniversary and looks to the future by continuing to build a vibrant business community.

Congratulations Norfolk Network for an incredible two decades of supporting businesses in the county – it’s not possible to count the number of rewarding business relationships that started with a conversation at a Norfolk Network event. Whether it is the reassurance and motivation gained from hearing someone talk openly about their business journey or the feeling that comes with being part of a wider business community of like-minded entrepreneurs, you have been the spark that has made this all happen.
